Six Texas couples appointed by IMB
___WICHITA, Kan.--Six couples with Texas connections were among the 58 people appointed to missionary service by the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention during a September service in Wichita, Kan.
___ Wade and Janie Harmon will work in the Dominican Republic starting churches in Santiago. The Harmons were most recently church planting apprentices in Indonesia through International Service Corps. Mrs. Harmon was born in Tyler, and Springdale Baptist Church in Fort Worth was instrumental in the couple's spiritual growth.
___ Boyd and Jennie Hatchel will work with Gypsies in Romania to start churches for this cultural group.
___He is discipleship and student director of Parkway Baptist Church in McKinney. He said it was while attending Meadows Baptist Church in Plano as a boy that he became interested in international missions.
___ Ben and Barbara Herrera will work in Mexico starting churches in Zuriel Baptist Association.
___He was born in Big Spring and has worked as associate pastor for youth and singles at Iglesia Bautista Getsemani and was interim pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Fort Worth, where the family attends.
___She was born in San Angelo and spent her childhood attending First Baptist Church in Goldthwaite.
___They count College Baptist Church and Iglesia Bautista Central in Big Spring as influential in their spiritual growth.
___ Matthew and Becky Sue Stephens will be doing general evangelism in the Czech Republic.
___He considers Humble to his hometown, and she was born in Austin. They met at Forest Cove Baptist Church in Kingwood, and that is where he was first exposed to missions.
___ Brad and Tammy Thompson will work in Senegal in agricultural evangelism with the Tukulor people.
___She was born in El Paso, and they currently attend Southcliff Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
___ Mike and Donna Wilson will work in Equatorial Brazil, where they will witness in villages and develop ways to start churches.
___He is pastor of Brashear Baptist Church in Brashear and also has been pastor of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Commerce. It was while attending Mulberry Springs Baptist Church in Hallsville that he felt called to be a pastor. The first summer after the Wilsons married, they spent the summer as missionaries in Dayton.
___She was born in Gilmer and considers Pittsburg her hometown. Her father was pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church there.
