___bluebull El Paso blitz on track. About 30 churches in El Paso Baptist Association will participate in Abrazando El Paso, an evangelistic and ministry event planned prior to this year's annual session of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. All Texas Baptists who plan to participate as volunteers in the effort should attend one of two orientation sessions to receive assignments. The first orientation is Friday, Nov. 5, from 7 to 9 p.m., and the second is Saturday, Nov. 6, from 8 to 10 a.m., both at First Baptist Church, 805 Montana.

___bluebull Billings nominated to lead Union. Tom Billings has been nominated to become executive director of Union Baptist Association, which encompasses metropolitan Houston. Currently one of three associate directors on the association's leadership team, Billings has served as interim executive director since last November. His nomination will be considered by the association Nov. 16.

___bluebull Ellison to head HSU alumni. Zelda Ellison of Lockney has been named president of the Hardin-Simmons University national alumni association. Other officers include Linda Scarborough Powell of Abilene, Judy Spivey Garner of Abilene, Julie Joiner of Waco, Chuck Anderson of Euless, Becky Allred Tucker of Abilene, Karen Swartz Kimball of Dallas and Freda Wimberly Seefeldt of San Angelo.

___bluebull School named for Hollands. Hardin-Simmons University's School of Sciences and Mathematics will be named for David "Scotty" Holland and Nell Hunter Holland of Houston. Holland is retired president of Pennzoil Exploration and Production Co.

___bluebull Hunter re-elected trustee chair at HSU. Tina Hunter of Abilene was re-elected chairwoman of the trustee board at Hardin-Simmons University Oct. 15. When first elected to the post last year, she became the first woman to serve as chair of the university's trustees.

___bluebull Reconciliation meeting planned. An International Conference on Reconciliation is scheduled for Cornerstone Church in San Antonio Nov. 4-6. Speakers include George Harris, pastor of Castle Hills First Baptist Church in San Antonio; David Walker, pastor of Alamo City Christian Fellowship in San Antonio; Alice Patterson, director of Pray Texas; John Hagee, pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio; and others.
