___bluebull Bread of Life Ministries was the featured entertainment for Trinity Church in Hallettsville's Fifth Friday Singing Oct. 29. The group, comprised of Rick, Deborah and Natasha Pearson, learned that a fire in the community had killed a father and left the family homeless. Bread of Life donated its love offering to aid the family that had been victimized by the fire. "In this day of fast living, I thought people would like to know that there are still warm-hearted compassionate Christians that enjoy helping others," Pastor William Walker reported.
___bluebull The Foundation for Interfaith Research and Ministry was honored with the

FAITH MEMORIAL BAPTIST CHURCH in Houston recently honored Hazel Radican (left) for 48 years of Sunday School perfect attendance and Thelma Perdue for 41 years of perfect attendance.

Presidents' Service Award, a voluntary community service award presented by the Points of Light Foundation and the Corporation for National Service. Houston Baptist churches affiliated with the ministry include Brentwood Church, Brookhollow Church, North First Church, Jersey Village Church, Memorial Church, Park Place Church, South Main Church and South Main Church in Pasadena. The ministry involves teams that respond to the in-home needs of people who are chronically or terminally ill or who are physically disabled.

___bluebull Kyle Childress celebrated his 10th year as pastor of Austin Heights Church in Nacogdoches Oct. 24.
___bluebull First Church in Gold-thwaite will celebrate its 75th anniversary Nov. 14. Presnall Wood, editor emeritus of the Baptist Standard, will preach. Doug Holtzclaw is pastor.
___bluebull Friendly Church in Tyler will mark its 50th anniversary with a celebration and homecoming Nov. 14. Services will be held at Harvey Convention Center beginning at 9 a.m. Dinner will follow the services. Former pastor Milton Gardner will participate in the celebration. ___bluebull First Church in Temple will celebrate its 125th anniversary Nov. 14-21. The presentation of "Find Us Faithful," a musical drama depicting God's work through the congregation since its inception, will begin at 6 p.m. Nov. 14. ___bluebull Central Church in Hillsboro has benefited from the labor of a Volunteer Christian Builders team. The team is helping to build a 44,000-square-foot facility that will replace the church's existing building on another site. The church is expected to move into its new building in April. Brian Whitney is pastor.
___bluebull Lewis and Mary Fitts were commissioned as Mission Service Corps volunteers Oct. 10 at West Conroe Church in Conroe. The will serve with the North American Mission Board in Tryon-Evergreen Association as volunteers in annuity and stewardship. They are available to aid churches and individual ministers in stewardship and retirement planning.
___bluebull Grace Community Church in The Colony will be a site of Fasting and Prayer '99 via satellite Nov. 11-13. Times are 6-9 p.m., Thursday; 9 a.m.-10 p.m., Friday; and 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Saturday. A special sleep fast will be held 10 p.m.-3 a.m. Friday for youth.

___Deaths
___bluebull Carl Ryther, 71, Oct. 3 in Waco. Ryther was an emeritus Southern Baptist missionary to Bangladesh. Ryther and his wife, Jean, were appointed as missionaries to that country in 1962 and engaged in a ministry of agricultural rehabilitation and evangelism. He also served as director of the Christian Agricultural Center there. He is survived by his wife; daughter, Carla; three sons, Joel, Gary and Timothy; and six grandchildren.
___bluebull Jennie Ward, 80, Oct. 3 in Arlington. Her husband, Reuben, was pastor of numerous churches, including First Church in Fort Stockton, Woodridge Church in Houston, Braes Church in Houston and Silver Creek Church in Burnet. She was a member of Walnut Ridge Church in Mansfield at the time of her death. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Martha and Judy; one brother, William; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
___bluebull Vanita Hulse, Oct. 29 in Dallas. Her husband, LaWayne, is a former editorial assistant of the Baptist Standard and pastor of churches in San Angelo, Mason, Fort Worth and a number of small West Texas communities. She is survived by her husband of 53 years; two sons, James and Kris; two daughters, LaRonna and Karen; six grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
___bluebull Clayton Spriggs, 71, Aug. 19 in Bedford. Spriggs was involved in ministry for more than 50 years. In addition to serving in the local church for many years, he also was a part of the ministries of James Robison, his brother, and Jay Strack. At the time of his death, he was director of the prayer and phone ministry of Life Outreach International. He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne; two sons, Mark and David; one daughter, Rebecka; one brother, James; one sister, Mary; and 11 grandchildren.
