High schoolers invited to UMHB. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor invites high schoolers from around Texas and neighboring states to visit the campus in Belton on Friday, Nov. 19, and Saturday, Nov. 20. Fall preview weekend is for high school juniors and seniors and their parents to learn about academic programs, financial aid and scholarships while experiencing college living for a weekend. Baylor creates Jewish studies center. Baylor University has announced establishment of a Center for American and Jewish Studies. Marc Ellis, university professor of American and Jewish studies, will be the center's first director. He cited two goals: "First, we want to create a leading forum for the discussion of religion and political life in the United States and on the international scene. Second, we want to establish the leading center for the study of Judaism and Jewish life among Christian-identified institutions of higher learning."

DBU plans homecoming. Dallas Baptist University will celebrate homecoming Nov. 19-20, highlighted by a Nov. 19 Thanksgiving Celebration at 7:30 p.m. in Burg Student Center and a Family Fall Festival beginning at 11 a.m. Nov. 20. Stephen Wyrick, chairman of the religion department at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, will receive the Distinguished Alumnus award. The Honorary Alumnus award will be presented to Harold Norris, the university's senior vice president for financial affairs.
