___bluebull Three East Texans received degrees during summer graduation ceremonies at New Orleans Seminary. Joe David Smith of Macedonia Church in Longview received the master of divinity with biblical languages degree with a specialization in evangelism.

HARDIN-SIMMONS ALUMNI met this fall for a reunion of singers from various choirs that were directed by Euell Porter in the 1950s. Fifty-two met to renew old acqaintances and rehearse the songs they once sang under Porter's direction. Looking over some of the music are Charles Downey, who organized the meeting; Maurice Alfred, who led the rehearsals; and singers Dellanna O'Brien and Bill O'Brien.
Claude Spanhanks, pastor of Spring Hill First Church in Longview, received the master of divinity degree with a specialization in pastoral ministries studies. Aaron Dickinson of Marshall received the master of arts in Christian education degree. He is associate pastor to youth and families at Eastwood Church in Haughton, La.

___bluebull Bayshore Church in La Porte will celebrate its 50th anniversary Nov. 20-21. Saturday will include a time of celebration, singing and fellowship beginning at 6:30 p.m. A luncheon and anniversary celebration will follow the morning service. ___bluebull Faith Church in Princeton will commemorate 28 years of service with a prayer revival Nov. 14-19 beginning at 7 p.m. A celebration dinner will follow the morning service Nov. 21. Stan Fike is pastor.
___bluebull Marvin Matthews, gospel-recording artist, will record a live concert video at First Church in Euless Nov. 21 at 6:15 p.m. He will be joined by a 200-voice choir, eight musicians and six backup singers and will feature a 240-voice men's chorus. ___bluebull Glenn Harlin, pastor of Northside Church in Odessa for the last 14 years, will retire Nov. 21. His prior churches were West Camp Church near Muleshoe and First Church in Plains.
