___bluebull McBeth honored. The Texas Baptist Communications Advisory Committee presented a lifetime achievement award Nov. 9 to Leon McBeth, distinguished professor of church history at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and author of the 150-year history of Texas Baptists.

___bluebull Texans sent out by NAMB. Two couples with Texas ties have been appointed to mission service by the Southern Baptist Convention's North American Mission Board. Rod and April Fultz

FULTZES, REIGLES

will serve in Orlando, Fla. Karl and Pam Reigle will serve in Tampa, Fla. Fultz, a graduate of Southwestern Seminary, previously was minister of missions at Birchman Baptist Church in Fort Worth. Mrs. Fultz, a graduate of Texas Tech University, previously served on the staffs of First Baptist Church of Lubbock and Sagamore Hill Baptist Church in Fort Worth. The Reigles both are Texas natives, he from Fort Worth and she from San Antonio. Both previously served at Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth and have done international mission work. He is a graduate of Southwestern Seminary, Dallas Theological Seminary and the University of Texas-Odessa. She is a graduate of Baylor University and Southwestern Seminary.

___bluebull Newbury honored. Howard Payne University Chancellor Don Newbury has been named to the American Southwest Conference Hall of Honor. Newbury was cited for his work to expand membership of the non-scholarship athletic conference and for writing the league's code of conduct for student-athletes.

___bluebull Search delayed. Charles Wade, executive director-elect of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, has asked that the search for a new director of the BGCT Human Welfare Coordinating Board be delayed until he has had time to evaluate the position and discuss possible changes with the board. Ed Rogers will retire from the position March 1.

___bluebull Top-giving churches honored. Five churches and one association were recognized during the Baptist General Convention of Texas annual session in El Paso Nov. 9 for outstanding contributions to the Texas Cooperative Program. Park Cities Baptist Church of Dallas was honored as the state's top giver to Cooperative Program and special missions offerings in 1998, with total gifts of $1.19 million. Green Acres Baptist Church of Tyler was honored for top giving to the Cooperative Program, with gifts of $773,300. Lamesa Baptist Association was honored as the association with the highest average percentage of church undesignated receipts given to the Cooperative Program, 15.22 percent. Westside Baptist Church of Lewisville was honored as top African-American church in Cooperative Program giving. Chinese Baptist Church of Houston was honored as top ethnic church in Cooperative Program giving. Primera Iglesia Bautista of Corpus Christi was honored as top Hispanic church in Cooperative Program giving.
