___DALLAS--Bill Wallace enjoys drawing and painting, but he really loves drawing people to Christ through his paintings.
___Wallace, an artist and lay Baptist minister from Rockland, Maine, uses acrylics and water colors to depict "the total counsel of God."
___His most famous painting is a massive 4' x 8' piece titled "John 3:16." It depicts Christ on the cross with literally the whole world at his feet. Observers at the Crucifixion include a

Roman soldier, a modern bride and groom, Queen Elizabeth of England, an astronaut, an African warrior, Moses with the Ten Commandments, a mother with a baby and more than 600 other faces.
___Wallace also is known for "The Lion and the Lamb," in which a powerful yet meek lion cradles a snow-white lamb in his paws.
___A collection of 18 Wallace paintings will be on display during his "Art for Christ" exhibit at the UMR Communications Center, 2400 Lone Star Dr. in Dallas, Nov. 6-23.
___Wallace sees his artwork and the gallery he and his wife, Fran, operate in Rockland as "seed planting."
___Their gallery, Pathways, is set up with both sacred and secular paintings, but it's designed to give them an opportunity to present the Christian message of salvation.
___"When our door chime goes off, we never know who we'll meet," he said. "We recently sold a painting of the Crucifixion to a Jewish man who was fascinated.
___"Our gallery is set up to show who God is, how to have a relationship with God, and that, of course, is through a relationship with Jesus Christ."
___He recently shared his faith with a Buddhist by talking about a painting of Jesus walking along the seashore.
___The Wallaces helped found New Harvest Community Church, a Southern Baptist congregation, in Rockland. And they're seeing people embrace Christ, he said.
___The "Art for Christ" exhibit will extend Wallace's ministry to Texas this month. Viewing times are 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. Wallace also will conduct a special presentation at First Baptist Church in McKinney, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m.
