___ Bob Dixon, recently retired executive director of Texas Baptist Men, will receive the Pioneer Award for service in missions.
___ Noble and Jane Hurley of Dallas will receive the Adventurer Award for leadership in missions.
___ First Baptist Church of El Paso will receive the Innovator Award for creativity in missions.
___Dixon, 71, joined the BGCT in 1966 as a consultant in Royal Ambassador work with boys. In 1968, he was elected executive director of the auxiliary, a post he held 30 years.
___Under Dixon's leadership, Texas Baptist Men built a statewide network of volunteer ministry teams that has set the pace and often paved the way for Southern Baptist men's ministries nationwide.
___Texas Baptists, with Dixon in the lead, blazed the trail for Southern Baptists in disaster relief ministries
___The Hurleys, members of Gaston Oaks Baptist Church of Dallas, have been longtime supporters of Baptist causes.
___"From the beginning of their lives together, they have demonstrated an attitude of courage and commitment, two traits that commend them as adventurers," said Bill Arnold, president of the foundation.
___First Baptist Church of El Paso, where Levi Price is pastor, has responded wholeheartedly to the call of God to reach out both to their city and to their neighbors across the Rio Grande.
___The church sponsors five mission congregations--one bilingual, two Hispanic, one Chinese and another aimed at teens in danger of being drawn into the gang lifestyle.
___In addition, it has an ongoing children's Bible club, supports a medical clinic and helps with literacy classes, Meals on Wheels, ministries to low-income families and services to inmates and families at a nearby federal prison.
___The church also regularly ministers on the Juarez side of the Rio Grande in a variety of ways.
