___bluebull Dick Maples, associate executive director-elect of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, will be the 10 a.m. commencement speaker as Dallas Baptist University confers degrees on 311 students Dec. 17. Della Foree, former DBU trustee and longtime supporter, will receive an honorary doctor of humanities degree during the morning ceremony. Wayne Allen, former DBU trustee and retired pastor of First Church in Carrollton, will give the commencement address for the 3 p.m. ceremony. Aubrey

DENE SMITH was honored for her 31 years of service as treasurer of Tri-Rivers Area. Smith, who recently retired because of health considerations, was presented a plaque by Bill Lewis (left), area committee chairman, and Director of Missions Tim Randolph.

, retired director of church and mission development for Dallas Baptist Association, will receive an honorary doctor of divinity degree.
___bluebull Hardin-Simmons University dedicated its newly renovated Mabee Hall physical therapy facilities Dec. 2. The facilities feature a new anatomy laboratory, housing state-of-the-art medical technology equipment.

___bluebull Park Cities Church in Dallas will celebrate the Christmas season with a number of special music services. The morning worship services Dec. 19 will feature the music of Robert Shaw. That evening, guitarist Doyle Dykes will continue the Christmas theme. The church also will hold a special candlelight service at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 24. Jim Denison is pastor.

___bluebull Latexo Church in Latexo will celebrate its 100th anniversary next summer. It is attempting to locate former members, photographs and information that would help in the celebration. ___Deaths
___bluebull Mike Fleming. Fleming served for more than 15 years as a chaplain with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice at the Powledge Unit near Palestine. He was a member of First Church in Palestine and endorsed by the North American Mission Board as a correctional chaplain. He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Cheree and Chandra; son, Michael; four grandchildren; four sisters; and four brothers.
