Pastor's son critically ill
___ATLANTA--The 7-year-old son of the pastor at Fairview Baptist Church in Greenville late last week remained unconscious in the intensive care unit of a Georgia hospital after being hit by a car.
___Stephen Boykin, a twin son of Eric and Wendy Boykin, was injured during the Thanksgiving holidays. The child reportedly was thrown 40 feet by the car's impact and stopped breathing twice in his father's arms.
___He was taken by helicopter to Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta. He sustained head trauma, a bruised spleen and lung, and a broken pelvis. He also developed pneumonia, which is now under control. Brain swelling is the greatest threat to his recovery at this point, according to Associate Pastor Jeff Phillips.
___The family is insured but had a $7,500 deductible with maximum out-of-pocket expenses of $15,000. A fund has been set up at Bank of America. Contributions may be made at any Bank of America location, designated to Stephen E. Boykin, account 004778909918.
