___bluebull Southeastern professor to run for Congress. Dan Heimbach, professor of Christian ethics at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C., is seeking the Republican nomination for North Carolina's 2nd Congressional District. If elected, Heimbach, 49, plans to take an indefinite leave of absence from the seminary while maintaining his permanent residence in Wake Forest with his wife and two sons. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a Vietnam War veteran, Heimbach also served as secretary for the North Carolina Republican Party from 1997 to 1999.___

___bluebull WMU releases women's Bible study books. Woman's Missionary Union has published the first two books in a new Bible study series, "Timeless Bible Truths for the 21st Century Woman." Velma Darbo Stevens of Fort Worth is author of one of the volumes, "Until Christ is Formed in You." The other volume just released is "Women of Faith: Living Lives That Matter," by Carolyn Dipboye of Oak Ridge, Tenn. A third book will be released next summer.

___bluebull CBF leader nominated. Jim Baucom, pastor of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Va., will be nominated moderator-elect of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship at the Fellowship's June 29-July 1 general assembly in Orlando, Fla. Sarah Frances Anders, a retired sociology professor at Louisiana College, is the Fellowship's current moderator. Donna Forrestor, a minister of pastoral care and counseling in Greenville, S.C., will succeed her in July.
