Baptist Briefs ___ Missionary appointment set. Sixty new Southern Baptist missionaries are slated for appointment by the International Mission Board during a Jan. 26 service at First Baptist Church of Houston. During the 7:30 p.m. service, IMB President Jerry Rankin will give a charge to the missionaries, and Avery Willis, senior vice president of overseas operations, will present a missions update. The event also will include a colorful parade of flags and special music by the church choir. Because of its venue in Texas, the state which has provided the greatest number of IMB career missionaries for several years, the service also will highlight the work of Texas missionaries around the world.
