FIRST CHURCH IN HICO recently broke ground on a building that will include a kitchen, fellowship hall and 10 classrooms. Members of the building committee are Chairman Bobby Needham, Evelyn Murff, Ben Baley, Lonnie Davis, Brett Johnson and Mary Ferguson. Charles Grossman is pastor.

___ Stanley Nixon has retired after nine years as pastor of First Church in Mathis and 25 years of ministry.
___ Ed Wittner has retired after 23 years as minister of music at Columbus Avenue Church in Waco and 50 years in ministry.
___ Jack Whyburn will retire Jan. 31 as pastor of First Church in Granite Shoals.
___ Billy Parmer has retired after 27 years as pastor of First Church in Valley Mills and 42 years in the ministry. He currently is serving in Lorenzo as director of Gloria Al Padre, a missions ministry with its primary work in Mexico. He is available for supply and as a banquet speaker at (806) 634-8450.

___ Dan Turner celebrated 25 years as minister of music at First Church in Dumas Jan. 17.
___ New Hope Church in League City will celebrate its 10th anniversary Jan. 31 at 3 p.m. Guest speakers include Norman Fansler and Charley Day. Guest musicians will be Jeff Johnson and Fredda Hays. A fellowship will follow. Jeff Jones is pastor.
___ The Seaman's Center in Freeport will celebrate its 25th anniversary Feb. 6 at 2 p.m.
