Conference gets back to gospel basics
___HOUSTON--Help for taking the basics of the gospel to a "post-apostolic age" will be offered at the Beyond These Walls Conference April 15-17.
___"Missions in the New Century" is the theme for the conference, to be held at First Baptist Church of Houston.
___The conference will focus on a return to the basics, said Herb Pedersen, director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas missions division. "I call it missions in the neo-apostolic age, or the new apostolic period," he said, noting that many post-modern people have as little understanding of Christianity as did the pagan world in the first century.
___The keynote speaker, George Hunter, is a specialist in missions in the 21st century, Pedersen said. Hunter is dean and professor of evangelism and church growth at Asbury Theological Seminary's School of World Missions and Evangelism in Wilmore, Ky. He will speak during the Thursday night plenary session and will lead breakout sessions on how to do missions in the new millennium.
___The conference will offer 96 breakout sessions, emphasizing a wide variety of topics along three main tracks.
___Registration and hotel information are available by writing the BGCT missions division at 333 N. Washington, Dallas 75246-1798, or calling (214) 828-5382.
