Texas Tidbits ___ HSU enrollment still above 2,000. Spring enrollment at Hardin-Simmons University topped 2,000 for the 10th consecutive semester, officials reported last week. The spring total of 2,131 students is a 3.8 percent decrease from last spring, but still is a strong showing, according to Associate Vice President Dan McAlexander.
___ DBU enrollment sets record. Spring enrollment of 3,610 students at Dallas Baptist University set a new record and is an 8 percent increase over last year, reported Vice President Blair Blackburn. DBU's overall enrollment has more than doubled in the past decade.
___ Birthing Center complete. Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio has opened its new Birthing Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The expansion doubled the number of birthing rooms available. It also allows the hospital to care for premature deliveries as young as 28 weeks.
___ DBU gets dorm grant. The M.D. Anderson Foundation of Houston has given Dallas Baptist University a $25,000 grant for construction of a new women's dormitory. The university still seeks funding to meet a $1 million challenge grant from the Mabee Foundation of Tulsa, Okla.
