Around the State ___ The metropolitan Houston alumni chapter of Hardin-Simmons University will sponsor "A Night with the President" at the Houston Museum of Natural

LUBBOCK BAPTIST ASSOCIATION has joined with Habitat for Humanity to build a house which will serve as the home for a mother and her three children. The churches of the association provided $35,000 for a portion of the building cost and most of the labor. Over 150 people and twelve churches have assisted in the project.

___Anniversaries ___ North Hardin Church of Silsbee will celebrate its 35th anniversary Feb. 28 with a noon meal and an afternoon service led by B.C. McCoy, director of missions for Sabine Neches Baptist Area. For more information, call (409) 385-9394. Danny Gilliam is pastor.
___Events ___ Brighton Park Church in Corpus Christi will have a note-burning celebration Feb. 28. The day will include recognition of charter members and the return of previous staff and pastors and an afternoon song service led by HeartSong. William Hitt is pastor. ___ The Woods Church in Tyler broke ground on a 14,500-square-foot multi-purpose facility Feb. 21. The building will include worship and education space for 350 people, indoor recreation space, church offices and a kitchen. The church began in February 1997 as a mission of First Church in Tyler and has grown to a membership of 98. Charles Dodson is pastor. ___ First Church in Pearland broke ground on a new worship facility Feb. 21. The weekend of festivities included a Saturday rally featuring Jerry Falwell and recording artist Luke Garrett. Sunday's special guest was Star Parker, founder of the The Coalition on Urban Affairs of Los Angeles. Rick Scarborough is pastor.
