___Anniversaries ___ Ty Morris celebrated 25 years as minister of music at Crestview Church in Midland Jan. 10. Among the day's activities were the presentation of a plaque, memory book of letters and photos, love offering and an evening service led by former choir members who are now serving churches in full-time music positions. Morris also was presented with a special recognition from Hardin-Simmons University. He is a member of the CenturyMen and serves as director of the Singing Men of West Texas.
___Deaths ___ Margaret "Sissie" Percy, Jan. 13. She was pianist at Kingston Avenue Church in Odessa while her husband, Bill, was music and youth director there during the 1980s. She was active in national Woman's Missionary Union work, writing for periodicals and speaking. Her husband is serving now at Odena Church in Sylacauga, Ala. ___ Jessie Jeffers, Jan. 15. She died in San Marcos at the age of 98 years and nine months. Jeffers served on the staffs of First churches in Tyler, Amarillo and Dallas for a total of 35 years. Following her retirement at 76 after 26 years at First Church in Dallas, where she directed the dramatized versions of Mendelssohn's "Elijah" and Handel's "Messiah," she consulted with churches across the state in their productions of Christmas and Easter musical programs and other church dramas. One son and one daughter, five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren survive her. ___ Pedro Luna, Jan. 25. He was a retired employee of Hispanic Baptist Theological Seminary in San Antonio. His wife, Teresa, and four children survive him. A memorial scholarship at the seminary has been established in his name.
___Ordained ___ Charles Daniels to the ministry at Elam Church in Dallas.
