___ Amy Grant divorcing. Contemporary Christian singer Amy Grant has filed for divorce from her husband, Gary Chapman, after 16 years of marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences." The couple has been separated since December.

___ Christian Coalition raising funds. The Christian Coalition has announced a campaign to raise a record $21 million to mobilize 15 million conservative voters in the 2000 president election. Founder Pat Robertson said the Christian Coalition hopes to train 1.5 million conservative political activists and will launch an on-line version of its controversial "voter guides."

___ Group wants Turner banned. A Catholic organization wants former Atlanta Braves owner Ted Turner banned from baseball for a year because of recent comments he made they label religious slurs. The group Christ or Chaos cited comments Turner made Feb. 16. When asked what he would say upon meeting Pope John Paul II, Turner stretched out an upraised foot toward the audience and said, "Ever seen a Polish mine detector?"

___ Commandments down in Georgia. Georgia's Lumpkin County Commission has decided to remove a Ten Commandments display from the local courthouse. The decision came after two civil liberties groups threatened to sue, claiming government endorsement of one religion.

___ Lyons resigns Baptist post. Henry Lyons, convicted on state racketeering charges including the misuse of money intended for burned churches, resigned March 16 as president of the National Baptist Convention USA. But he did so against the majority wishes of the denomina-tion's board, many of whom still supported his leadership.
