FREDONIA HILL CHURCH of Nacogdoches recently held a groundbreaking dedication for a 27,000-square-foot family life center. Construction is scheduled for completion in November 1999.

___Retiring ___ Marvin Mosley is retiring after 14 years as director of missions of Harmony-Pittsburg Baptist Association. His retirement is effective May 1. A reception will be held in his honor April 17 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall of First Church in Pittsburg. ___ Dale Gore has announced his retirement as executive director-treasurer of Austin Baptist Association, effective Aug. 31. The association search committee is accepting recommendations with resumes addressed to: Bruce Murray, River Road Baptist Church, 12712 FM Road 969, Austin 78724. ___ Frank Deutsch is retiring as director of church services and Christian social ministries for Austin Baptist Association, effective April 30. The association has scheduled "An Evening to Thank Frank" at 7 p.m. April 13 at Bannockburn Church in Austin. A catered dinner will be served, and the cost for the evening is $10. To make reservations, call (512) 454-2558. ___ Les Grantham is retiring after 13 years as minister of education at Hampton Place Church in Dallas, effective March 31. ___ Irving Cook, associate pastor of education at First Church in Greenville, has retired after 50 years of ministry. Guest speaker at his retirement reception was Jimmy Draper, president of LifeWay Christian Resources, with whom Cook served in two churches. Cook served churches in Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri. He will continue to serve the church in a part-time position as associate pastor to senior adults.
___Deaths ___ Earl Cleaveland, 79, Feb. 27. Cleaveland, a pioneer of ministers of education, served 11 Texas and New Mexico churches during his ministry of more than 50 years. A leader in Sunday school and religious education, he was a featured speaker at Glorieta and led Sunday school workshops across the country. Until the time of his death, he was actively involved in mission work along the border in the El Paso/Juarez area. His wife, Ross; two sons; one daughter; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren survive him.
