___bluebull Caedmon's Call goes on-line. Acoustic folk-rock band Caedmon's Call will be featured in a live Internet concert April 17 from their home church, Second Baptist in Houston, highlighting the debut of their second album, "40 Acres." A two-hour concert at the church, beginning at 8 p.m. Central, will be webcast simultaneously on musicforce.com.

___bluebull Baylor headed for Bliss. University of New Mexico basketball coach Dave Bliss was named head coach of the men's basketball program at Baylor University last week. Bliss, who took the Lobos to seven NCAA tournaments, previously was head coach at Southern Methodist University and the University of Oklahoma.

___bluebull Mackey dies. Dorcy Mackey, the first layman to serve as president of the Texas Baptist Sunday School Convention, in 1957-58, died March 23 in Paris at age 89. He was a deacon and lay leader in First Baptist Church of Paris. He also served as a trustee of Dallas Baptist University and of the Southern Baptist Convention's Sunday School Board.

___bluebull Rural ministry course offered. "Thriving in Rural Ministry," a week-long course for pastors and ministerial students, will be offered jointly May 24-29 by Hardin-Simmons University's Logsdon School of Theology and Truett Theological Seminary of Baylor University. The course will be taught by Gary Farley, a leading authority on the rural church in America. The Baptist General Convention of Texas will provide some funding to cover student costs. ___bluebull Play offers glimpses of Texas. A play based in part on the relationship between Joel Gregory and W.A. Criswell as co-pastors of First Baptist Church of Dallas premiered last week in Louisville, Ky., in the Humana Festival of New Amer-ican Plays. Although the plot behind "God's Man in Texas" is fictional, it includes references from Gregory's book "Too Great a Temptation."
