___ Two retired Hardin-Simmons University professors will be honored by the Former Faculty/Staff Administration Fellowship April 16. Zane Mason, professor of history emeritus, will receive the "Former Faculty Member of the Year" award. Wesley Coffman, retired dean of the HSU School of Music and professor of music emeritus, will be honored as the recipient of the "Former Staff-Administration Member of the Year." ZEPHYR BAPTIST ENCAMPMENT in Sandia recently broke ground on an 11,000 square-foot multi-purpose activity building due to be completed before the summer camp season. ___ Russell Dilday, Loyd Allen and Bill Bruster will be featured during the annual Scholar-in-Residence series April 18, April 24-25 and May 1-2 at Calder Church in Beaumont. Bruster, networking coordinator with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, will begin the series April 18 discussing "The Shape of International Missions and the CBF" at 9:15 a.m. Allen, associate dean of McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University, will talk about "What it Will Mean to Be a Baptist in the New Millennium" in the April 24 and 25 sessions. Topics to be addressed include the priesthood of the believer, the authority of the Bible, religious liberty, the autonomy of the local church and believer's baptism. Dilday, president of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, will discuss "The Shape of Things to Come with Texas Baptists" May 1 and 2. For more information, call (409) 892-4251. ___ Hepsibah Church in Winnsboro will celebrate homecoming services April 18 with special guests Vision 4. A lunch will follow the service. Perry Shirley is pastor.

___Anniversaries
___ St. Joe Church in De Leon celebrated its 100th anniversary April 11. Donnie Auvenshine, dean of Christian studies at Howard Payne University and a former pastor of the church, was the guest speaker. Jackie Auvenshine is pastor.
___ Ken Stone has celebrated 15 years as pastor of First Church in Clayton.
___ First Church in Banquete will celebrate its 50th anniversary April 18. An all-day service will begin at 10 a.m. Richard Weisinger is pastor.
___ Inglewood Church in Grand Prairie will celebrate its 40th anniversary April 18. Special speakers will include former staff members Edgar Jones and Avery Willis. A catered lunch will held after morning services. For more information, call (972) 264-4264. Ed Rogers is interim pastor.

___Deaths
___ Williard Bewley, 88, March 14 in Decatur. Bewley, a retired pastor, served churches in Montague, Parker and Wise counties for more than 50 years. He was a member of First Church in Decatur. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche. His wife, Inez; one daughter; four stepsons; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren survive him.
___ Geddes McLaughlin, 80, April 4 in Athens. McLaughlin, dean emeritus of the Baylor University School of Nursing, died of complications from cancer. She taught at the nursing school beginning in 1959 and was named dean in 1965, retiring in 1979. She taught English as a second language and adult literacy courses in the Athens area following retirement, as well as leading Bible studies at a retirement center. She was a member of First Church in Athens. Her husband, Earl, and a sister survive her.
