The award is presented annually to a person in the communications or public relations field who has made significant contributions to the religious life of Texas. ___ Facilities/finances seminar set. Information on church facilities and financing will be offered in a seminar May 11 at Gregg Baptist Association, 121 Gilmer Rd., Longview. The seminar will offer information on building plans and the major decisions that have to be made about facilities planning. It also will cover the basics of fund-raising with "United We Build" and long-term financing, either through a mortgage loan or by issuance of church bonds. Reservations are requested. ___ Truett taps Maciel. Rene Maciel has been named director of student services at Baylor University's Truett Theological Seminary. Maciel will oversee admissions, recruitment, orientation, financial aid, student life activities and student placement. He is a former director of admissions at Hardin-Simmons University and most recently has been administrator of the New Mexico Baptist Children's Home in Portales, N.M.
___ Foundation elects Nelson. Directors of the Baptist Foundation of Texas have elected David Nelson as senior vice president of trust services. He previously was named president of Concord Trust Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of the foundation. Also, Ron Dugan has been promoted to the position of chief investment officer, having served as vice president and investment officer.
___ Drake to head BHS Foundation. John Drake has been named executive director of the Baptist Health System Foundation in San Antonio. The Baptist hospital system serves South Texas. Drake moves to the position from Dallas Theological Seminary, where he has been senior development officer. He previously was assistant vice president of the Baylor Health Care System Foundation. ___
