___bluebull Southwesterners reach hundreds. Nearly 150 students from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary gave their spring break to participation in the seminary's 40th annual spring evangelism practicum. They participated in revivals, inner city ministry and drama and music ministries through 100 churches, leading 206 people to faith in Christ.

___bluebull Brazilian missionaries ask prayer. Baptist missionaries in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, are planning a citywide crusade May 23-29 and ask Texas Baptists to join them in prayer for this event. About 400 Americans will join Latin Americans, Brazilian Baptists and other Christians to preach, witness and disciple believers in 260 churches of the Carioca Baptist Convention. A victory service is scheduled May 29 in Maracana, the largest open-air soccer stadium in the world. Texas Baptist evangelist Sammy Tippit will be preaching.

___bluebull Yugoslav church attacked. A Christian church in Yugoslavia reportedly was attacked three weeks ago by neighbors who associated it with United States President Bill Clinton, who is a Baptist. Local people threw stones at the Christian Evangelism Center in Backi Petrovac, reported Dane Vidovic, a Baptist who lives in Belgrade. While anti-American sentiment has fueled hostility against the church and its kindergarten, so far there have been no physical attacks, Vidovic told European Baptist Press Service.

___bluebull Sutton to be nominated. Jerry Sutton, pastor of Two Rivers Baptist Church in Nashville, Tenn., will be nominated for president of the Southern Baptist Convention Pastors' Conference in June. Johnny Hunt, pastor of First Baptist Church of Woodstock, Ga., said he will nominate Sutton. Sutton is former pastor of Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth.

___bluebull Reynolds recovering from stroke. William Reynolds, a former editor of the "Baptist Hymnal," is recovering in a Fort Worth hospital from a mild stroke suffered April 8. Reynolds, 79, is distinguished professor of church music emeritus at Southwestern Seminary. The stroke, which occurred in Reynolds' brain stem, has not resulted in paralysis or impairment of mental faculties, his wife said.

___bluebull Honeycutt ailing. Roy Honeycutt, former president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, remained hospitalized late last week after open heart surgery April 1 and is facing difficulties recovering, family members have said, asking for prayers on his behalf. Honeycutt was Southern's eighth president, serving from 1982-93.

___bluebull Prayer set for North Korea. Southern Baptists will fast and pray for the 22 million people of North Korea during the 1999 Day of Prayer and Fasting for World Evangelization, from 6 p.m. Friday, May 21, to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 22. Churches may obtain a free resource kit by calling (800) 866-3621.

___bluebull Missouri delays partnership. Mission trips through the Missouri Baptist Convention's partnership with Baptists in the former Soviet republic of Belarus have been suspended until conditions in the Balkans improve. As of April 15, the Southern Baptist International Mission Board had reported no other partnership missions efforts canceled as a result of U.S./NATO bombing of Yugoslavia.
