___Volunteers are needed to teach English in China this summer and share Christ with their students through their Christian lifestyle, said Lorene Salyer, China coordinator with Texas Mission Service Corps.
___"Besides a desire to make a significant difference in China for Christ, volunteers generally need a college degree, some English as a Second Language training and to be healthy with good physical stamina," Salyer said.
___Texans have several options to participate in this missions need.
___The Amity Foundation of Nanjing, China, has asked the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship to send at least 85 teachers to serve in two projects, July 7-Aug. 8. Also, upper-level university students are needed to serve as teaching assistants and work with middle school students ages 12-15. Cost is $2,500 per person for lodging, international travel and meals. A deposit of $250 is due by April 15.
___For further information, contact CBF's Global Missions Office at P.O. Box 450329, Atlanta, Ga. 31145-0329, or call (800) 352-8741.
___Also, the Southern Baptist International Mission Board seeks 100 volunteers to teach in China June 25-Aug. 19.
___For more information, call the IMB at (800) 999-3113, then press 8. The cost last year was about $4,500.
___Yet another opportunity exists through the Edge English Institute of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, N.C., in cooperation with the IMB. This group seeks 75 teachers for the summer.
___For more information, contact Trish Cloud, Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 6050 Hickory Grove Rd., Charlotte, N.C. 28215, or phone (704) 531-4044.
___The Texas orientation for volunteers going to China is June 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Baptist Building in Dallas.
___"Anyone, no matter which route they choose, may attend this orientation, whether living in Texas or not," Salyer said.
