___ Dallas Baptist University will hold its annual PaceSetters camps June 7-11 and June 14-18. The weeks, led by DBU staff, are designed to enable high school students to develop as servant leaders. Each week will include worship, small-group experiences and afternoon service projects. Total cost of the camp is $95, which includes meals, lodging, T-shirt and camp notebook. LA PARRITA CHURCH in Kingsville was dedicated March 7. The church was a cooperative church start with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, Coastal Bend Association and University Church in Kingsville. The building was constructed by the First Church in Corpus Christi HammerSlammers, a Texas Baptist Men construction group. Aaron Nutter is the church's volunteer minister of missions.

___ Hardin-Simmons University has announced the appointment of three faculty members to endowed chairs and three others to be designated as senior professors. Named to chaired professorships were Robert Barnes, Shelton Professor of Counseling and Human Development; Jimmie Monhollon, Johnson Professor of Economics and Finance; and Pam Williford, Irvin Professor of Education. The new senior professors are Virginia Armstrong, senior professor of political science; Larry Brunner, senior professor of English; and Ron Smith, senior professor of theology.
___ Nathan Maxwell of Abilene was named recipient of three awards at Hardin-Simmon University's Logsdon School of Theology, including the Logsdon School of Theology award, McFaddin Greek award, and the Logsdon scholarship for entering master of divinity students. Terry Hancock of Abilene received the Dan Ogelsby Jr. Memorial award and the Logsdon scholarship for entering master of divinity students. Others students receiving awards included Justin Culbertson, Elisabeth John, Allison Culp, Cooper Strange, Jeff Hobbs, Donald Tittle, Emily Row, Michael Linville, Rebekah Calgary, Mary Neal and Cecil Richards. The Logsdon School is in Abilene.
___ Dorothy McCoy, distinguished professor emeritus of mathematics at Wayland University, has received the distinguished lifetime service alumni award. The university's Association of Former Students presents the award. Geoff Wells, associate professor of political science, and Benjamin Akande, chair of Wayland's business division, were presented the faculty university service award. The faculty scholarship award went to Estelle Owens, chair of the university's social sciences division. Don Eversole, associate professor of business, received the faculty community service award.
___ Hardin-Simmons University's Irvin School of Education technology laboratory in Abilene will be named in honor of Peter Gilman, retiring dean. The lab will be upgraded with state-of-the-art technology and be called the Peter J. Gilman Center for Education Technology.

___ J.C. Morrison will retire as minister of music at Ferndale Church in Dallas May 16, having served the church for 40 years. A 2:30 p.m. reception will be held.

TILDEN CHURCH in Tilden recently had father and son pastors lead the church in revival. Steve Briggs, pastor of Tilden Church and his father, Mark Briggs, pastor of First Church in Elmendorf, led the church in revival along with Jorgen Hoberg, minister of music at the Elmendorf church, and Jeff Slaughter of Nashville, Tenn.

Paris. The conference begins at 1 p.m. Friday with a three-hour seminar for ministers and their spouses. The conference will continue Saturday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Ministers, their spouses and mature married couples will attend these sessions. Marriage Savers is an attempt to save marriages and reduce the divorce rate through using mentoring couples who work with couples contemplating marriage and those whose marriages are in crisis, and through the use of marriage enrichment seminars. The conference is sponsored by Red River Valley Baptist Association, Paris-Sulphur Springs United Methodist District, Lamar County Ministers' Association and the pastoral care ministries of McCuistion Regional Medical Center and Christus-St. Joseph's Hospital. Mike and Harriet McManus, founders of the program, will lead the conference. Registration is $85, and checks should be made out to Lamar County Ministers' Association and sent by May 17. ___ Jewel Collier, April 20 in Brownwood. The wife of deceased pastor Fate Collier, she is survived by three daughters.
___ Clovis Marshall, 81, May 1 in Marshall. Her husband, Norville, served as pastor and director of missions in the Kaufman-Van Zandt area prior to his death in 1997. She was a member of Karnack Church in Karnack. Two sons; one daughter; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters survive her.
