Nine Texans nominated to SBC boards
___Nine Texans have been nominated to serve new or renewed terms on the trustee boards of Southern Baptist Convention agencies and institutions.
___The nominations were announced April 30 by the SBC's committee on nominations and will be considered by messengers to the June 15-16 SBC annual meeting in Atlanta.
___Texans among the nominees include:
___bluebull Jack Graham, pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, to the SBC Executive Committee, replacing Forrest Lowry, pastor of First Baptist Church of Spring.
___bluebull Roy Sparkman of Wichita Falls, nominated to a second term on the SBC Executive Committee.
___bluebull Gene Hawkins of Lubbock, nominated to a second term on the Annuity Board.
___bluebull Kyle Cox, director of missions for Galveston Baptist Association and member of Nassau Bay Baptist Church in Houston, replacing Rick Scarbrough, pastor of First Baptist Church of Pearland, on the International Mission Board.
___bluebull David Evans of Amarillo, nominated to a second term on the IMB.
___bluebull Luan Stallings, lay member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Big Spring, replacing Mary Margaret Norman of Post on the board of LifeWay Christian Resources.
___bluebull Denny Autrey, pastor of First Baptist Church of Lindale, replacing Ollin Collins, former pastor of Harvest Baptist Church in Watauga, on the board of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
___bluebull Laura Lee Cogswell of Sherman, nominated to a second term on Southwestern Seminary's board.
___bluebull Steven Wright of Houston, nominated to a second term on the board of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission.
___In addition, SBC President Paige Patterson named four Texans to service on SBC committees:
___bluebull Brian Waite, pastor of Southwest Baptist Church in DeSoto, to the committee on committees.
___bluebull Michael Wright, pastor of First Baptist Church of Iraan, also to the committee on committees.
___bluebull John Mark Caton, pastor of Fairview First Baptist Church in McKinney, to the resolutions committee.
___bluebull Howell Burkhead, pastor of First Baptist Church of Cleveland, also to the resolutions committee.
