Pray for North Korea & give food as well ___About the time many Southern Baptists around the country will be spending 24 hours in prayer and fasting for North Korea, Texas Baptists hope to send another shipment of fertilizer into the famine-plagued country. ___The 1999 Day of Prayer and Fasting for World Evangelization, an interdenominational emphasis, is set for 6 p.m. Friday, May 21, to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 22. Southern Baptists have adopted North Korea as a special prayer focus. ___Texas Baptist Men is seeking $30,000 for fertilizer to boost productivity on demonstration farms within North Korea, and the Korean Baptist Fellowship of Texas has pledged to provide $10,000 toward the project. Korean Texas Baptists plan to send a team into North Korea in June. ___In the last two years, Texas Baptists have sent about $100,000 worth of fertilizer and food aid to North Korea. ___Texas Baptists who wish to contribute financially to the famine relief and agricultural development project should send designated checks, made payable to "Baptist Executive Board," to the Treasurer's Office, Baptist General Convention of Texas, 333 N. Washington, Dallas 75246-1798.
