Pastor says SBC light on gays. Anti-homosexual agitator Fred Phelps, pastor of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., plans to protest outside the Southern Baptist Convention's annual meeting in Atlanta next month because he believes the convention has failed to condemn member churches that are too open to homosexuals. Phelps, whose church is not affiliated with the SBC, specifically cited churches in North Carolina and Missouri, as well as the membership of President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore in SBC churches.

Columbine family to speak. The father and brother of a slain Columbine High School student will speak at a contemporary Christian concert June 12 and a Sunday worship service June 13 scheduled as part of evangelistic events prior to this year's Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting in Atlanta. Daryl Scott, father of Rachel Scott, and his 16-year-old son, Craig, will speak at the 7 p.m. concert and 9:15 a.m. worship service, both to be held in Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park.
