___bluebull Leon McBeth, distinguished professor of church history at Southwestern Seminary and author of "Texas Baptists: A Sesquicentennial History," will provide the commencement address for the students graduating May 15 from Wayland Baptist University.

RUTHIE LOBB was named the Texas Female Christian Athelete of the Year by Lay Witnesses for Christ International. Lobb was selected from the thousands nominated by coaches, teachers and ministers throughout the state. A member of Plymouth Park Church in Irving, she was an All-District volleyball player at Irving High School. She is the granddaughter of Shelby Bulla, pastor of Horseshoe Bend Church in Weatherford.

___bluebull Van Christian, pastor of First Church in Comanche, has been selected as Pastor of the Day for the Texas House of Representatives for May 14.
___bluebull A seminar focusing on children in worship will be held at Wilshire Church in Dallas May 14. John Witvliet, director of the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship at Calvin College and Calvin Seminary in Grand Rapids, Mich., will be the primary speaker. This free seminar will focus on ways for worship leaders, pastors, educators and children's choir directors to teach children and youth about worship and how to include them as full participants. ___bluebull First Baptist Church of Oak Cliff has announced the sale of its southwest Dallas property and has plans to build a new facility in southeast Grand Prairie. The church will continue to occupy its present plant until July when it will move to an interim facility pending the completion of construction of the new campus. The church is moving in a quest to provide an opportunity for continued growth and to have greater impact as a regional church. Bill White is pastor.

___bluebull Chuck Dooley marked 20 years of service with the Baptist General Convention of Texas Church Starting Center April 15. He is the consultant for the Gulf Coast region.

___bluebull Mary Ann Harris died recently after a battle with cancer. Her husband, Robbie Harris, who was a pastor in the Dallas area, also succumbed to cancer and preceded her in death.
