___bluebull Judgment entered against Baylor. Baylor University was ordered June 9 to pay $153,788 in back wages to John Fox, who was fired as an anthropology professor in 1997, according to reports by the Associated Press and Waco Tribune-Herald. The Waco jury did not rule on the reasons for Fox's firing, but they said he was denied due process and a fair hearing before his tenure was revoked. Baylor spokesman Larry Brumley said the relatively small judgment "indicates that the jury agreed with the university's position that Dr. Fox should not be teaching at the institution." The award could have been as high as $6.7 million. The jury also found that Baylor administrator Stan Madden and former Baylor student Judy Parker did not libel Fox by comments they made. Parker was one of four students who had accused Fox of misconduct on a Guatemalan field trip.
