___bluebull Two Texans were among the New Orleans Seminary graduates receiving awards during spring graduation ceremonies. William Hansen of Longview received the C.C. Randall award in evangelism. David Shipp of Austin received the American Bible Society award. Both were December graduates.
___bluebull Baptist minister and performance artist Al Staggs has moved from San Antonio to
coastalbend
COASTAL BEND ASSOCIATION recently moved into its new offices at 712 W. Avenue D in Kingsville. The building was constructed by the Texas Baptist Volunteer Builders from the blocks up. The finishing work for the facility was done by volunteers from the churches within the association. Larry Martin is director of missions.

___bluebull Heritage Church in Annapolis, Md., is seeking information on any students who will be attending the United States Naval Academy this year. ___Deaths
___bluebull Walter Connell, 81, in San Angelo June 3. Connell began his ministry as minister of education at Norhill Church in Houston. He also served at South Main Church in Houston and churches in Oklahoma, New Mexico and California. After retirement, he served as a professor at the Baptist Seminary in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa. He also served as a consultant with the Baptist General Convention of Texas in the Sunday school division. His wife, Betty; two daughters; one son; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson survive him.

___bluebull Christian Bible Baptist Church in Missouri City will present an original patriotic dramatic musical, "The Spirit of America," July 4 during 7:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services. The production will be performed by Theatre under the Son, the drama ministry of the church. The oratorio is the work of Eric Jones, the founder of the troupe.
___bluebull First Church in Dodge will combine its God and Country Day celebration with a noteburning ceremony July 4. Lunch will follow the morning service. Rick Holland is pastor.
___bluebull First Church in Kildare will celebrate a homecoming July 11. The church, which was organized in 1877, will follow the morning worship service with lunch and fellowship. Thomas Potter is pastor.
___bluebull Lamar Church in Arlington will hold groundbreaking ceremonies for a new worship center July 11 at 10:30 a.m. Charles Cruce is pastor.
___bluebull Sandra Shelton, narrator of the radio talk show "9 to 5 God," will speak at the ladies' summer supper at Rush Creek Church in Arlington July 15 at 6:30 p.m. The radio program features interviews with management, employees and customers of companies practicing godly principles in the market place. Tickets can be purchased at the church.
___bluebull Prestonwood Church in Plano will be the site of an area-wide Walk Through the Bible conference July 15-20. The six-day event will offer a variety of seminars designed to appeal to singles, married adults, teachers, children, teenagers and business professionals. Scheduled guest speakers include Bruce Wilkinson, founder and president of Walk Through the Bible Ministries; David Jeremiah, senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, Calif.; and Jerry Vines, pastor of First Church in Jacksonville, Florida. ___bluebull John Bisagno will retire as pastor of First Church in Houston Nov. 21.
___bluebull James Sain, pastor of West Park Church in Pecos for 11 years, will retire June 30 after 42 years in the ministry. He will be moving to Tulia and will be available for supply, interims and revivals. He can be reached at (806) 995-4343.
___bluebull Elvin Gibson, pastor of Hillcrest Church in Nederland for 25 years, has announced his retirement after 42 years in the ministry, effective Jan. 16, 2000.
