GRACE & PEACE:
How to pray for the executive director search
___"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints ..." Ephesians 6:18
___Because of the vast diversity of Texas Baptists it is practically impossible to have a group that is totally representative. The executive director search committee is an example. Although many parts of the Baptist family are represented on the committee, the committee realized that for the sake of completeness it was important to have input from all parts of the Texas Baptist family.
___To that end the committee in a number of ways has requested input as to characteristics desired as well as persons recommended. For example, special requests for written input have been placed in the Baptist Standard, in the pastor mailing (to pastors and church staff

members) and in Leadership magazine (which goes to numerous leaders in Texas churches).
___In addition, the committee has set up sessions for person-to-person input from various parts of the Texas Baptist family. For example, on May 14, members of the committee met with a number of people, including pastors and laypersons from a variety of churches throughout Texas, representatives of institutions related to the Baptist General Convention of Texas, leaders of numerous ethnic and racial groups and persons from the Executive Board staff. On May 17th members of the committee listened to input from directors of missions for associations throughout Texas. On May 18 the committee heard from members of the Executive Board of the BGCT as well as leaders of Woman's Missionary Union of Texas and Texas Baptist Men.
___In addition to written and personal input, the committee seeks the prayer involvement of all persons and churches. As Texas Baptists participate with the search committee in these ways, they help provide inclusion of all parts of the Texas Baptist family in the process of seeking and following God's will. In this sense, everyone has opportunity to be part of the process.
___Knowing that nothing excels prayer in significance in the process of the committeeís work, the committee has requested the prayer coordinating committee for the BGCT to develop a special prayer support for them. Prayer for the committee in ways such as the following is vastly important:
___ Pray that nothing will distract committee members from continued sensitivity to the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
___ Pray for each committee member to maintain a focus on wanting nothing other than God's will to be done in the process of selecting a person to nominate to the Executive Board for consideration.
___ Pray for the safety of the committee members in travel and for their schedules to be such that they will be able to make the necessary adjustments for full participation.
___ Pray for Bill Brian as he leads the committee.
___ Pray for each of the members of the Executive Board of the BGCT to also be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leadership.
___ Pray for the person whom God has chosen for this position to be completely open to God's leadership.
___ Pray as you send input to the committee at: BGCT Search Committee, P.O. Box 30131, Amarillo 79120.
