CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH in Stephenville has named James Gillespie pastor emeritus. He and his wife, Elaine, were honored for their years of service to the church and community. He served as the church's pastor from 1971 until his retirement in 1987.

___Deaths
___ Ben Stripling, 91, June 10 in Waco. Stripling was a pastor and foreign missionary for 69 years. He was pastor of First Church in Atlanta, First Church in Gladewater and Richland Hills Church in Fort Worth and churches in Illinois. He also served in the Philippines and Taiwan. Stripling also served as a member of the executive board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
___His wife, Lucille; one son; one daughter; four grandchildren; and one sister survive him.
___ William Coble, 79, May 31 in Kansas City, Mo. He served as Baptist Student Union director and professor in the Baptist chair of Bible at Stephen F. Austin University from 1948 until 1953, and from 1953 until 1960 taught in the chair of Bible at North Texas State University. He taught at Midwestern Seminary from 1960 until his retirement in 1986. He was widely known for his Sunday school lesson materials.
___His wife, Mildred; three children; five grandchildren; and one brother survive him.
___ Evelyn Basden, July 1. She was the wife of James Basden, who served as director of the human welfare department of the Baptist General Convention of Texas prior to his retirement.
___She is survived by two sons.
___ Callie DuBose, 97, June 10 in San Antonio. She was a member of McNeil Church in Luling for more than 60 years.
___Her daughter; two sons; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren survive her.
___ Precious Johnson, 55, June 16 in Lubbock. She was the wife of Truman Johnson, pastor of Broadview Church in Lubbock.
