Random violence conference set ___ARLINGTON--A second conference on random violence is planned by the Baptist General Convention of Texas. ___The event will be held at First Baptist Church of Arlington Sept. 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will focus on youth violence and will feature presentations from those with first-hand experience in the random violence epidemic in America. ___Co-sponsor of the event is LifeWay Christian Resources. ___"This is a conference for pastors, staff, youth workers, church leaders, community leaders and others who may be impacted by random violence, whether it is a single incident of murder or a bombing which claims scores of lives," said Dick Maples, coordinator of BGCT minister/ church relations. ___Scheduled speakers include Steve Lee, youth minister at Ken Caryl Baptist Church in Littleton, Colo.; Joy McInvale, a counselor from Bedford; Maples; Joe Williams, an FBI chaplain in Oklahoma City; and Brooks Faulkner, pastoral care specialist with LifeWay. ___To register, call (214) 828-5169, or send e-mail to cotton@bgct.org. ___ ___
