___Events
___bluebull Liberty Church in Dallas is holding a benefit concert to aid a member who was injured during a church work day this past March. The man fell from a ladder, crushed both feet and required eight surgeries. He is self-employed and the injury has been financially debilitating. The church is attempting to help him with a concert featuring the

ALLEN COX, director of the All-State Baptist Band, and Lisa Sides, a trumpet player from Hallsville, have a little fun practicing their directing skills during All-State Band and Choir camp held at Howard Payne University. Two hundred thirty-six youth spent the week preparing for concerts at the state capitol and in Great Hills and Hyde Park churches in Austin. This was the 24th year for the all-state musical program.

___bluebull Lee Wilson has celebrated 15 years as associate minister of recreation at Green Acres Church in Tyler.
___bluebull Bill Wiman celebrated 15 years as minister of education at First Church in Bryan Sept. 5.
___bluebull Ewell Humphreys celebrated 50 years in the ministry Sept. 11. A pastor for most of those years, he presently is assistant pastor at Christ Way Bible Church in Hurst.
___bluebull Cross Roads Church in Rotan will celebrate its 90th anniversary Sept. 18-19. Reunion fellowship will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, with a hamburger supper at 6 p.m. Morning services will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon. The unveiling of a quilted wall hanging with embroidered squares of the church family, both past and present and including all former pastors, will be the highlight of the afternoon. ___Deaths
___bluebull Ralph Smith, 80, July 23 in Fort Worth. Smith was a retired distinguished professor emeritus of Old Testament at Southwestern Seminary. He also was a prolific writer of books and Bible study materials. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy; son, Franklin; daughters, Frances, Carolyn and Ruth Ann; two grandchildren; and one brother.
