The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship will hold an open house for its World A Link office in Dallas Oct. 3 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The ribbon cutting will be at 3 p.m. This office houses CBF's Adopt a People, North American Mobilization and prayer ministries. First Church of O'Donnell will celebrate its 85th anniversary Oct. 2-3. On Saturdayat 6:30 p.m., a meal and celebration service will be held. A timeline of events that will include pictures and documents in the life of the church and other articles of interest will be on hand. Danny Howe will celebrate his 10th anniversary as pastor of First Church in Saginaw Oct. 3. Duffau Church in Duffau will dedidate its expanded sanctuary and education space Oct. 3 in conjunction with a celebration of the church's 121 years of service. Dedication will take place at 1:30 p.m. after a fellowship meal. Trey Turner is pastor.

___Deaths

Thelma Medford, Aug. 30 in Azle. She was the wife and partner of evangelist Jack Medford. She worked with children and youth during their revival meetings. The couple also started a number of churches in Bell Association. She also served as a Mission Service Corps volunteer for nine years. She is survived by her husband and daughter.

Samuel DeBord, 70, Sept. 7, in Houston. DeBord founded the first Baptist seminary in East Africa during his time as a missionary to Tanzania from 1956 to 1966. He also served at the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board and later was pastor of churches in Louisiana and Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marthena. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his children, Doug and David DeBord and Melany and Jarrett Roberts; sister, Vera Jean Parrott, brother, Raleigh; and one grandson.
