___Deaths
___bluebull George Stewart, 85, Sept. 16 in San Antonio. Stewart was pastor of churches in Charlotte, Kenedy, San Marcos, San Antonio and Memphis, Tenn. He also served as director of missions for San Antonio Association for 20 years. In this capacity, he led in

the construction effort of the Baptist Student Center at San Antonio College, an administration building at the Mexican Baptist Bible Institute and an all-faith chapel at the state hospital. He also instituted the volunteer chaplaincy program for non-Baptist hospitals and led in starting student work at St. Mary's University, the University of Texas-San Antonio, Trinity University and the Health Science Center. He retired in 1980. At the time of his death he was a member of Trinity Church in San Antonio. His first wife, Eloise, died in 1979. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; son, George; daughter, Liz Henderson; sisters, Catherine Wuest and Ruth Morgan; step-son, Thomas Lee; step-daughter, Carolyn Obermiller; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

___bluebull First Church in Calvert celebrated 131 years of service Oct. 8. James Leo Garrett Jr. was the guest speaker. Jeff Riley is pastor.
___bluebull Noted author Neil Clark Warren will lead a single adult workshop at Wilshire Church in Dallas Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. During this free event, Warren will lead participants through 10 principles for choosing the right spouse. A $5 buffet will follow, allowing the first 250 participants that buy advance tickets to meet the speaker and have individual questions answered.
