7 from Texas hit mission field
___Seven people with Texas ties were among the 41 missionaries appointed Sept. 26 by the Southern Baptist Convention International Mission Board.
___German and Debbie Hernandez will work in the business office of the Dominican Republic Baptist Mission. He will serve as business and financial support leader and have a part in a church planting team. She will use her evangelism skills at home and on the church planting team. Since 1998, the Hernandez family has served in Valencia and
Kevin & Leslie Rutland
Caracas, Venezuela, through the International Service Corps, a mission program of the IMB. They currently live in Fort Worth and are members of Travis Avenue Baptist Church there. She was born in Fort Worth and considers Pittsburg to be her hometown. The couple has one child, Joshua.
___Jeff and Robyn Lowe will live and work among the Tajamulco Mam people of western Guatemala. The Tajamulco Mam are among the poorest people in Guatemala. The Lowes, along with a team of evangelists and church planters, will work to bring the gospel to an animistic culture. The Lowes live in Newton. Among the churches they count as important to their spiritual growth are Burkeville Baptist Church in Burkeville and First Loeb Baptist Church in Lumberton. He was born in Kountze and considers Burkeville his hometown. His father is the administrator of East Texas Baptist Encampment in Newton. She considers Somerset to be her hometown.
___Violeta Ramirez will work with university students in Merida, Venezuela. She also will be a member of a church planting team designed to evangelize and disciple students and other Venezuelan Baptists. Iglesia Bautista Rosedale in El Paso was influential in her spriritual growth. She was born in El Paso and considers it her hometown.
___Kevin and Leslie Rutland will live in Russia and plan strategy for bringing Christ to the nearly 9 million living in the Moscow area.
___They consider Northwood for the Community Church in Keller their home church. Highland Park Church in Texarkana also was influential in their spritiual growth. The Rutlands have two children, Aubrey and James.
