Texas Baptist Men re-elects Dixon,
presents awards to two men

___CORPUS CHRISTI--Texas Baptist Men at their 32nd annual convention Oct. 31 re-elected Bob Dixon as president for his third one-year term.

award is named for a first century brotherhood who risked everything for their faith.
___The afternoon meeting included testimonies of missions and ministry efforts.
___Jack and Kathryn Tennison reported on a retiree builder project in Canada. Mrs. Tennison told of conducting a "holy sweatshop" with an assortment of sewing projects while the men were busy with construction.
___Bob Mayfield and 14-year-old Hudson Babler told of their experiences in Nicaragua and Honduras with a group of Challengers who showed the "Jesus" film and helped map local villages.
___Keith Mack, children and youth missions and ministry director, stressed the importance of support for Royal Ambassador camps.
___Likewise, veteran Royal Ambassador leader Butch Durham said that major spiritual decisions are made at leadership camps for men. "God does not call every man to go, but he will enable those who do," he said.
___Britt Dulin and another missions volunteer (name withheld for security reasons) spoke appreciatively of the opportunity they had to serve in Kosovo. "Those people are so open to the gospel," she said.
___Dick and June Moody related highlights of their China prayerwalk.

___ Approved proposed new bylaws.
___ Heard an update on Victim Relief Ministry, which will involve churches throughout the state, including non-Baptists, in programs benefiting crime victims.
___ Learned about the new Missions Equipping Center in Dallas.
___Jerry Bob Taylor of Brownwood, who chaired this year's policy committee, presented the bylaws, which were approved the day before by the Texas Baptist Men executive board.
___The bylaws provide that membership shall include Baptist Men groups in churches affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. The role of Texas Baptist Men, the bylaws say, is to enlist and train men, boys and their families as volunteers "for God's kingdom service."
___Assisting Dixon in leadership roles for the coming year will be Andy Andreason of McGregor, immediate past president; Joe Lenamon of Fort Worth, financial vice president; Leo Smith of LaMarque, personnel vice president; George Crews of Colleyville, policy vice president, and Noe Vella of Corpus Christi, recording secretary.
___Other vice presidents are DeWayne Williams of Arlington, agricultural missions; John LaNoue of Tyler, aviation; Larry Blanchard of Lindale, Challengers; Tom Shelby of Dallas, communications; Dick Moody of Ennis, couples on mission; Jerry Bob Taylor of Brownwood, disaster relief; Mel Goodwin of Kilgore, fire and rescue; Butch Benitez of New Braunfels, Hispanic Baptist Men; Gene Wofford of Santa Fe, kingdom revival; T.Y.
