___bluebull Lifeway joins with Texas minister in venture. LifeWay Music Ministries, a division of LifeWay Christian Resources, has announced a partnership with Kim Noblitt, minister of music and worship at First Baptist Church of Euless, to produce worship projects over a three-year period. Noblitt was lead singer and road manager for the ensemble Truth early in his career. Noblitt's first worship project with LifeWay will be released in 2001 under the Genevox imprint.
___bluebull Southwestern moves San Antonio campus. Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary's extension campus in San Antonio will move next month to the city's northwest side. The center has been located at First Baptist Church's downtown property since 1977. Due to renovations at First Baptist, the center will relocate to Park Hills Baptist Church on San Pedro Parkway. The move is temporary. A permanent campus will be built on Babcock Road between the University of Texas Medical Center and the University of Texas San Antonio campuses when funds are available.
___bluebull Tesh hosts radio special. Family Net Radio, a division of the SBC North American Mission Board's Fort Worth broadcast group, has created a one-hour radio special for the Christmas season called "The Greatest Gift." The program is hosted by John Tesh and features Christmas songs sung by popular artists such as Luther Vandross, Amy Grant and Martina McBride. The special will be aired on local stations at their discretion.
___bluebull Colorado adopts revised BF&M. Messengers to the Colorado Baptist General Convention debated but approved making the revised version of the Baptist Faith & Message their official statement of beliefs. The convention's constitution previously required churches seeking affiliation to have adopted and adhere to the 1963 version of the Baptist Faith & Message. A failed amendment would have allowed churches to affirm any previous version of the faith statement.
___bluebull Annuity Board trustees approve benefit increase. Trustees of the Southern Baptist Convention's Annuity Board approved a 5 percent increase for most annuitants and adopted a resolution affirming the SBC Cooperative Program during their Nov. 6-7 meeting in Dallas. The increase will apply to certain annuities funded from defined contribution accumulations, as well as Plan A retired and deferred benefits. Trustees unanimously approved the resolution affirming the Cooperative Program. It encourages "all Southern Baptists to resist any effort that would threaten to diminish the Cooperative Program."
___bluebull Annuity Board responds to BF&M. Trustees of the Southern Baptist Convention's Annuity Board have adopted a response to a motion referred to all SBC agencies from the SBC annual meeting last June. The motion asked the entities of the SBC not to require their employees to sign the Baptist Faith & Message statement of beliefs. Trustees responded by affirming the Baptist Faith & Message as the accepted confession governing the Annuity Board's work. Annuity Board spokesman Curt Sharp said employees are not required to sign the Baptist Faith & Message.
