___ Yearbook dedicated to Clayton. The recently released Yearbook of the West Texas Historical Association is dedicated to Lawrence Clayton, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and professor of English at Hardin-Simmons University.

JERRY AND LINDA BRADLEY walk into a surprise party honoring their 10th anniversary with Texas Baptist Children's Home in Round Rock. Bradley is executive director of the child-care agency. Employees and friends honored his anniversary with a presentation of gift certificates, paintings and memorial bricks.

___ "Child of the Promise" coming. "Child of the Promise," a touring contemporary Christian musical featuring 15 top recording artists, will make a stop in Dallas Dec. 2 and in Houston Dec. 3. The Dallas performance will be at Reunion Arena, and the Houston performance at Compaq Center. The musical by Michael and Stormie Omartian features Steven Curtis Chapman, Crystal Lewis, Twila Paris, Avalon, 4Him and others. Tickets for both cities are available through TicketMaster.
___ Aston named associate dean. B.W. Aston, senior professor of history, has been named associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Hardin-Simmons University. Aston will serve as acting dean during the sabbatical of Dean Lawrence Clayton this spring.
___ Administrative Committee meeting called. A special meeting of the Baptist General Convention of Texas Administrative Committee was called for Monday, Nov. 20, by Chairman Mateo Rendon. The purpose of the meeting, Rendon said, would be to discuss committee members' concerns about a draft form of the BGCT "Gift Remittance Form" mailed to Texas churches Nov. 8 by BGCT Treasurer Roger Hall. That form apparently had not been reviewed or approved by the Administrative Committee or the convention officers before it was mailed.
___ Baylor regents OK science building renovations. Baylor University's board of regents approved a $25.6 million budget for the renovation of Marrs McLean and Sid Richardson science buildings. The renovations will coincide with construction of a new $60 million science building adjacent to the existing structures. Regents also approved a $1.5 million fund-raising campaign to expand the locker and workout rooms at Floyd Casey Stadium.
___ Hager named assistant dean. Lawson Hager has been named assistant dean of the School of Music at Hardin-Simmons University. He is a tenured faculty member who has served as director of bands and instructor in brass and music literature since 1973.
___ Meredith, Wedgwood honored. The communications advisory committee of the Baptist General Convention of Texas has honored Pastor Al Meredith and the staff of Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth with a special achievement award. The award recognized the church's effective communication of the gospel in the wake of a gunman's deadly rampage through the church on Sept. 15, 1999.
___ UMHB gets grant. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor has received a $25,000 grant from Rockwell Fund of Houston to support the Parker Academic Center, which will house the schools of business and education. The new facility will be a two-story, 40,000 square-foot classroom and office building.
