___ Dan Kent of Fort Worth has been elected to chair the national board of Christians for Biblical Equality. Kent is a retired professor of Old Testament at Southwestern Seminary and a former Texas pastor. ___ Howard Payne University has announced five promotions for administrative staff. The new appointments are Louise Sharp, vice president for development; Bill Fishback, vice president for external relations; Doug Chandler, vice president for administration; Pepper Dill, assistant vice president for enrollment; and Jim Brackenridge, assistant vice president for international programs. ___Retiring ___ Charles Fanning after serving as pastor of First Church in Grangerland for 30 years and 41 years in the ministry. Terry Carson is pastor. ___Deaths ___ Ignacio Palomo, 89, Sept. 29 in San Antonio. Palomo was a pastor in San Antonio, Floresville, Luling and McKinney. He also served with the Home Mission Board, preaching in Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico and Panama. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Hortense. He is survived by his daughters, Irene Herrera and Esther Fuentes; son, David; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Amelia Triana and Mary Rocha; and brother, Marcos. ___ Glendola Nash, Oct. 10. Nash was the former dean of nursing and health services at Houston Baptist University.
