Sanctity of Life inserts ready

___A church bulletin insert emphasizing Sanctity of Life month is available from Buckner Adoption and Maternity Services. The inserts, which focus on ministry to women in crisis pregnancy situations, are designed for use any time during January.
___The purpose of the inserts is to help churches focus on the "life-affirming alternative of adoption," said Mike Douris, vice president for Buckner Adoption and Maternity Services. The inserts are available upon request by calling Buckner at (214) 381-1552 by Dec. 15.
___Buckner hopes women in crisis pregnancy situations will seek to make a plan for their unborn children, Douris said. "One of the answers available to them is adoption."
___The inserts highlight the ministry of adoption and include plans for churches to promote adoption and respond to those experiencing a crisis pregnancy.
___Douris noted that observing the special day is "an excellent way for Texas Baptists to affirm the sacredness of human life.
___"It also is a great way to call attention to how Buckner is available to assist churches in serving their community by providing alternatives to abortion through adoption and maternity services," he said.
___As churches prepare to observe Sanctity of Life month, Adela Jones urged leaders to focus "not so much on the adoptive parent but on pregnant women who, out of desperation, see abortion as their only way to deal with an unplanned pregnancy. It's my prayer that we can give them a ray of hope and tell them there is an alternative to abortion, one that God will honor and with which their lives will be blessed."
___Jones, domestic adoption director for Buckner, said that as an adoption professional for more than 20 years, one of the most discouraging trends she has observed "is that, by far, adoption is the last choice for women who experience unplanned pregnancies. About 50 percent of the unplanned pregnancies in this country end in abortion, while 45 percent of those who are pregnant try parenting. Only about 5 percent choose adoption."
