Wayland trustees name Armespresident of Plainview campus ___PLAINVIEW--Paul Armes has been named president of Wayland Baptist University, succeeding Wallace Davis, who recently was named chancellor of the Wayland University system.
___In his new role, Armes will give specific oversight to the university's Plainview campus. Davis is now giving direction to the larger system, which includes multiple campuses in Texas and beyond.
___Armes, who has been president of San Marcos Baptist Academy since 1996, was elected unanimously to the Wayland post during a specially called meeting of Wayland trustees Nov. 30. Full Story

___DALLAS--Wilshire Baptist Church has voted to "terminate" its 49-year relationship with the Southern Baptist Convention.
___The northeast Dallas congregation approved a resolution calling for separation from the SBC by unanimous votes with two abstentions during two business meetings held in conjunction with prayer services Dec. 6. Full Story
