BGCT ends year with record giving

___Texas Baptists in 1999 gave more than $46.99 million to missions and ministries related to the Baptist General Convention of Texas Cooperative Program in 1999 and $26 million to worldwide causes through the Cooperative Program.
___The year-end record total of $73.05 million was an increase of $2.19 million (3.1 percent) over 1998, according to Roger Hall, BGCT treasurer and chief financial officer.
___The treasurer's office reported churches gave $46.99 million to BGCT-related causes through the Cooperative Program in 1999. That was $1.16 million (2.5 percent) above budget and an increase of $1.01 million (2.2 percent) over 1998.
___Worldwide Cooperative Program receipts totaled $26.05 million, an increase of $1.18 million (4.7 percent) over 1998.
___Offerings for Texas missions, world hunger and global missions posted increases in 1999. Giving to the offerings for international and North American missions dropped slightly from the previous year.
___Texas Baptists gave $5.5 million to the Mary Hill Davis Offering for Texas Missions, an increase of $139,259 (2.6 percent) over 1998 and $3,192 above the giving goal.
___Gifts to the Texas Baptist World Hunger Offering totaled $899,722, an increase of $36,249 (4.2 percent) over the previous year.
___Gifts to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship's Global Missions Offering totaled $810,819, a $61,882 (8.3 percent) increase over 1998.
___Texas Baptists gave $14.37 million to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for international missions, a slight drop (less than half of 1 percent) from the $14.42 million given in 1998.
___Gifts to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American missions totaled $5.9 million, a decrease of $91,659 (1.5 percent) from 1998.
___"This was a good year as expressed in missions giving by the churches in our Texas Baptist family," Hall said. "We can be grateful for their continued faithful giving."
