IMB appoints 14 Texans
to worldwide missionary service

___RICHMOND, Va.--Fourteen people with Texas ties recently were appointed to missionary service by the Southern Baptist International Mission Board.
___bluebull Gary and Delores Creagle Bishop will start cell-type churches in England. They will train and develop believers in discipleship and evangelism and challenge them to carry on the

ministries on their own. The Bishops also will work to develop and strengthen the relationship between Baptists and other evangelical Christians in Great Britain.
___The Bishops served previously from 1988 to 1997 as IMB missionaries in England. They most recently have served in Colorado Springs, Colo., at Chapel Hills Baptist Church, where he was the minister of missions and evangelism and she taught at a child development center.

Robert & Jennifer Burns
___Mrs. Bishop was born and raised in Wichita Falls and is the daughter of James and Leta Pearl Creagle. She graduated from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls with a bachelor of science degree.
___bluebull Robert and Jennifer Burgess Burns will work in South Wales in sports evangelism. For years, the Burnses have used athletics as a platform to tell others about Christ. Initially, they ministered through Youth Sports International, an organization the Burnses started in Houston.
___He currently is director of the soccer evangelism program at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas. She is a fitness instructor at the YMCA of Fort Worth and an arthritis specialist at Huguley Memorial Medical Center in Fort Worth.
___The Burnses are members of Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
___He earned the master of divinity degree from Southwestern Seminary, and she earned a

master's degree in missions at Southwestern.
___bluebull Peter and Allison Hopper Crook will work in Ecuador on a church planting team. The missionaries in Ecuador and the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention are seeking to plant a church in every county in the country.
___For the past three years, the Crooks have been working in Ecuador as church planting apprentices through International Service Corps., a short-term missions program of the IMB.
___The Crooks are members of Southcliff Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
___Both are recent recipients of master of divinity degrees from Southwestern Seminary.

Robert & Marsha Hall

___bluebull Robert and Marsha Byars Hall will work in Ecuador, where he will use his administration skills in the mission office and she will use her skills of evangelism to work on a church planting team.
___Currently, he is working as a contract administrator with the Lockheed Martin Corp. in Dallas. She is an assistant professor at Tarrant County College in Fort Worth. The Halls live in Bedford and are members of First Baptist Church in Euless.
___He was born in San Antonio and is the son of Martha Hall. He earned the bachelor of general studies degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a master of business administration degree from Dallas Baptist University.

William & Orpha Ortega
___She was born in Dallas and is the daughter of Len and Martha Byars of Euless. She has been active in Bellevue Baptist Church in Hurst and First Baptist Church in Euless. She holds both bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington.
___bluebull William and Orpha Sanchez Ortega will work in Mexico City, where they will help develop and lead a church planting team.
___The Ortegas currently live in West Jordan, Utah, where he is a North American Mission Board missionary starting churches among Hispanics. He also is director of the Utah School of Theology, a training center for lay leaders. She is a teacher in Salt Lake City.
___He was born in Costa Rica to Guillermo and Carmen Varela, now of Dallas. He earned an associate degree from Hispanic Baptist Theological Seminary in San

Antonio, a bachelor of arts degree from Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C., and a master of divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C.
___She will complete the bachelor of arts degree at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview this month.
___bluebull Eric and Ramona Hastings Reese will be work in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, developing strategy to evangelize the upper-middle class.
___He is pastor of Cedarcliff Baptist Church in Cedar Hill. She is a science teacher at J.P. Elder Middle School in Fort Worth. He completed the master of divinity degree from Southwestern Seminary

___bluebull Jerry and Deborah Gardner Stephens will work in Nairobi, Kenya, where he will be a regional media representative, coordinating the use of media tools for teams of IMB missionaries. She will use her skills and training in childhood development to help missionaries home schooling their children. She also will work with the Roslyn Academy, an international Christian school in Nairobi.
___The Stephenses are members of Hulen Street Baptist Church in Fort Worth. He is nearing completion of the master of missiology degree from Southwestern Seminary.
