___Retiring
___bluebull Meredith Hair, pastor of South Avenue Church in Pasadena for more than 17 years, has announced his retirement, effective March 26. Hair has served 46 years as a pastor, including terms at First Church in Colmesneil and Tyrrell Park Church in Beaumont. He also was pastor of four Louisiana churches. He will be available for

___bluebull Aleene Griswold is retiring after serving on church staffs in Texas and Louisiana for the past 54 years. The last 30 years have been with First Church in Dallas, where she served in the business office.

___Anniversaries
___bluebull Reby Lawler has celebrated her 20th anniversary as minister of childhood education at Trinity Church in San Antonio.
___bluebull Belmont Church in Odessa will celebrate its 55th anniversary Feb. 26-27. Saturday an open house and fellowship will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. At 7 that evening a remembrance service will be held. Sunday will include a special anniversary service with former pastor Gene Rotramel, followed by a luncheon. Rex Clayton is pastor.
___bluebull Park Lake Drive Church in Waco will celebrate its 50th anniversary Feb. 26-27. A reception will be held that Saturday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Guest speakers for Sunday include Paul Comer, Harry Lucenay and Leonard Molone. David Shuttlesworth is pastor.
___bluebull Gulf Meadows Church in Houston will celebrate its 30th anniversary Feb. 27. A special afternoon program will include memories of the past and challenges for the future. Windell Gill is pastor.
___bluebull First Church of Skidmore will celebrate its 100th anniversary March 12. Delbert Serratt, director of missions for Blanco Association, will preach in the morning service. ___bluebull First Church in Gustine will celebrate its 100th anniversary March 12. Dan Connally will be the guest speaker at the 10 a.m. service. Lunch will be served at noon followed by the afternoon service. Ray Harvey is pastor.

___Deaths
___bluebull Beulah Childress, 75, Jan. 22 in San Antonio. Childress was the wife of Hardy Childress, former pastor of churches in Canadian, Seguin and Southwest Church in San Antonio, as well as California. She also served on the first music faculty of Golden Gate Seminary. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Lee Childress. She is survived by her husband; daughters, Beth Childress and Carol Chelkowski; one granddaughter; one sister; and one brother.
___bluebull Leon Woods, 81, Jan. 29 in San Angelo. Woods was pastor emeritus at Harris Avenue Church in San Angelo. Woods served as chaplain during World War II and the Korean War. He served a number of Texas churches in addition to the San Angelo church, including Grandview Church in El Paso. He also served as a trustee of Howard Payne University. He is survived by his wife, Maurie; a daughter, Jeannie Gaddis; a son, Forbes; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
___bluebull Alex Garner, 77, Feb. 10 in Del City, Okla. Garner was an emeritus Southern Baptist missionary to Argentina, Panama and Paraguay. He and his wife were appointed as missionaries to Argentina in 1952, transferred to Panama in 1974 and transferred again in 1977 to Paraguay. They retired in 1987. Prior to missionary appointment he was pastor of churches in Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife, Charleta; daughters, Cynthia Case and Rebecca Alvaiez; and six grandchildren.
