ETBU reaffirmed. The Commission on Colleges for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has reaffirmed the accreditation of East Texas Baptist University following the conclusion of their 10-year review of the university.

ETBU Tiger Day coming. Prospective students are invited to East Texas Baptist University for Tiger Day activities March 5-6. There is no charge, and prospective students will participate in campus tours, a coffee house, a campus life expo, scholarship testing, financial aid seminars, parent/student forums and a Saturday afternoon concert featuring Mustard Seed, Autumn Rains, Fifth Seal, Frail and City on a Hill. Prospective students will also have the opportunity to audition for music or theater scholarships.

Nursing school receives grant. Baylor University's Louise Herrington School of Nursing has been given a $50,000 grant from the North Texas chapter of the March of Dimes. The grant, the largest given by the March of Dimes this year, will be used to develop a neonatal nurse practitioner track in the master of science in nursing program. An additional $50,000 has been given to the program by Pediatrix Medical Group and the Magellan Healthcare Group, who each donated $25,000.

Baylor taps Kruschwitz. Robert Kruschwitz, chair of the philosophy department at Georgetown College in Kentucky, has been named director of Baylor University's Center for Christian Ethics. Chartered in 1990 and related to Baylor since 1997, the center publishes a periodical titled Christian Ethics Today and will launch a new quarterly magazine as well. The center will sponsor conferences for laity, ministers and students. Kruschwitz earned the doctor of philosophy degree at the University of Texas in Austin and previously served as a visiting instructor of philosophy at Baylor.

HBU adds scholarships. Houston Baptist University has announced formation of two endowed scholarship funds. Ruth and Bennett Coulson of Houston have funded a scholarship in memory of their son, Craig Bailey Coulson. Clyde Kennelly of Rosenberg has established a scholarship in memory of his sister, Jessie Mae Kennelly Skinner, and her husband, Neal.

DBU gets $250,000. Dallas Baptist University has received a $250,000 grant from the Andersen Foundation of Bayport, Minn. The funds will be used for general scholarships.

Enrollment up at HSU. Spring enrollment at Hardin-Simmons University is 2,139, an increase over last spring. The largest percentage increase in this spring's enrollment is in graduate programs, which registered a 22 percent gain.

Logsdon sets missions conference. "Missions in the 21st Century" is the theme of a conference planned at Logsdon School of Theology at Hardin-Simmons University Feb. 18. Keynote speakers will include Keith Parks, Bill and Dellanna O'Brien, John Jonsson and A.B. Short. Registration is free, but reservations are suggested. Wayland adds business degrees. Wayland Baptist University will add the bachelor of business administration degree and master of business administration in international business degree to its curriculum next fall.
