Getsemani Bautista Mision in Tahoka officially constituted as Gethsemane Baptist Church (bi-lingual) Jan. 23. The congregation had been a mission of First Church in Tahoka since 1946.

SNIPPING, NOT SIPPING soup is the ministry of Martha Sloop of Chicago, a winter Texan, and Virginia Ogle of Grapevine, a member of Campers on Mission, at Valley Baptist Missions/Education Center in Harlingen. The soup and food labels are being assembled to precise specifications in order to redeem 1 million for a van or other critical needs. North Richland Hills Church in North Richland Hills will hold opening ceremonies for its new 70,000-square-foot children's ministry building March 5. Television personality and child advocate John Criswell will speak at 5 p.m. followed by an open house and reception.

Mozelle Sherman, former professor of music at Howard Payne University, is celebrating 50 years of teaching. She has served as director of church music drama and professor of church music and worship at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky., since 1984. Sherman grew up using drama and music in the churches her father, William Clark, served as pastor, including First Church in Claude, First Church in Tulia and First Church in Ranger. While teaching at Howard Payne from 1973 to 1980, she and her husband, Louis, were members of First Church in Brownwood.
