___bluebull Book honors Landes. Hardin-Simmons University has published a new biography of James Landes, former university president and former executive director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. "True Servant Leader: James H. Landes" was written by Charles Richardson and focuses on Landes' leadership role in Texas Baptist life. The book is available from the university book store at (915) 677-2332.
___bluebull Fogle returns to ETBU. Sam Fogle has been named vice president for administration and finance at East Texas Baptist University. He moves from the University of North Texas but previously worked at East Texas Baptist as associate vice president for physical facilities.
___bluebull HSU trustees give increase. About half of the budget increase at Hardin-Simmons University next year will be devoted to improving the salaries of faculty and staff members. University trustees approved the $27 million budget for fiscal 2000-2001 during their Feb. 18 meeting.
___bluebull Fowlkes to ETBU. Dane Fowlkes has been named director of alumni relations at East Texas Baptist University. The ETBU graduate has been a strategy coordinator with the International Mission Board since 1993. He has served several Texas churches as pastor.
___bluebull Jones development director. David Jones, alumni director at East Texas Baptist University since 1991, has been named development director for the university.
___bluebull Wilson to ETBU. Pat Wilson, assistant director of financial aid at LeTourneau University, has been named director of financial aid at East Texas Baptist University.
___bluebull Charry to lecture in Houston. Ellen Charry, associate professor of systematic theology at Princeton Theological Seminary, will deliver the A.O. Collins Lecture Series at Houston Baptist University March 9-10. She will speak out of one of her major research interests, the integration of psychology and theology. Lectures are scheduled for 7 p.m. March 9 and 9:30 a.m. March 10 in the Hinton Building.
___bluebull New association formed. A third association has been formed to relate directly to the new Southern Baptists of Texas Convention. Cross Roads Southern Baptist Association was formed by Northside Baptist Church of Mineral Wells, which has left Palo Pinto Baptist Association. Oak Ridge Baptist Church of Weatherford also has voted to align with the new association.
___bluebull Correction: Attendance at the Texas Baptist Hispanic Evangelism Conference was about 1,400, not 900.
